Since 2009, our organization works to connect people with innovative ways to overcome adversity and to increase artist funding by connecting with the health care sector. Art is an important part of total wellness and vital to building healthier communities. By using the tools of art, advocacy, and social determinant building, we can help individuals and communities find their personal power.

Our Mission:

Using art to show that emotional distress is temporary and transformative.

About our Mission:

All Poetry for Personal Power programs asks one very important question:

What helps YOU overcome adversity?

Arts | Community | Social Determinants | Faith | Connection | Information | Feeling Useful | Support | Hugs | Nature | Sports | Exercise | ETC.

P3 has proven that education, advocacy, peer support, and the arts are revolutionary tools that can help peers to make sustainable changes in behavioral health care. Our evidence-based programs work towards helping people to rebuild themselves and when people are built up, we are able to build healthy, recovery-oriented communities.

Helping the Community

At Poetry for Personal Power, we are dedicated to facilitating community engagement, research, meetings, coalitions, and advocacy efforts.  We also train advocates! As an organization, all of our community engagement efforts are focused on creating resilient communities where people can safely recover from trauma, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Everyone deserves to live in communities where they are able to learn, grow, and be heard.

One Step at a Time

This outreach is done through events and advocacy within health coalitions and other sectors to give community members and healthcare consumers a voice as well as education on resources.  Our non-clinical peer support specialists and peer recovery coaches deliver education about resilience, health, wellness tools, and resources that aid in trauma reduction and recovery support.

Empowering Artists

With our organization’s mission always in mind, our sponsored artists present resilience message outreach.  Our artists are working each and every day to make a positive impact in three states. Contact us to learn more about our commitment to this cause.
