Open Positions

AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program is a 10 week program May 30-August 7. 

We are looking for people to fill the following roles during this time:

A. Summer Associate Openings

​

Office Organization Aid: 

• Participate in relocation efforts

• Organize HIPAA compliant files

• Take inventory

• Packing/UnPacking Office Setup

• Deep-clean office once per week.

Programming Enrichment Aid:

Providing verbiage

Attending events

Offering evidence-based feedback to improve programming efficacy based on intended outcomes and grant specifications

Create grant-compliance reports and general reporting

Marketing and Campaign Aid:

Participate in street team efforts

Recruit for ALL programs

Researching/recommending news outlets/radio/etc

 

Workshop/Event Aid:

Manage event tables

Co-facilitate events

Provide general support

Recruit

Maintain sign-up and hours sheets

B. Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

• Become familiar with Poetry for Personal Power’s history, programs, goals, outreach methods, partnerships, and resources.

• Use various software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.

 
C. Qualifications/skills and knowledge required:

• High School diploma.

• In-depth understanding of Microsoft Office Suite tools.

• Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.

• Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.

• Professional level verbal and written communications skills.

• Willingness to self-disclose lived experience of recovery from adversity using medical or community supports.

• Skilled at social media, internet research, word processing, and spreadsheet design.

• Excellent skills for team building, camaraderie, fairness, conflict resolution, relationship building.

• Goal setting / Evaluation processes

• Responsible

• Task-Oriented

• Team Builder among artists, advocates, and the community at large.

D. Compensation (Through AmeriCorps VISTA): 

​

 Living Allowance: $575.41 pre-tax/bi-weekly for 10 weeks of service (full time commitment)​

​

BENEFITS:

Summer Associates are eligible for a Summer Education Award, or an end of service stipend. 

Summer Associates do not receive health care, childcare allowance, or relocation allowance (ONLY FULL YEAR MEMBERS).

 

END OF SERVICE OPTION:

Summer Associates have the choice between the End of Service Cash and a Summer Education Award. Once the member makes the selection, CANNOT be changed. 

 

SUMMER ASSOCIATE LEAVE:

• Holidays

• • Summer associates receive leave on holidays observed by their sponsor, and have weekends free, depending on the sponsor’s needs, policies, and regular work schedule. Sponsors may also adjust schedules for summer associates, as they would for a VISTA member, to compensate for service performed during weekends or holidays.
